UNEP spearheads Business Outsourcing Seminar

A one-day seminar entitled “Franchising and Business Processing Outsourcing” was slated by the University of Northeastern Philippines’ (UNEP) College of Business Education Department on October 12. The activity, aim among others, to familiarize the students with the current trend involving the newest development in finding lucrative job opportunities aside from the usual and traditional jobs being offered to fresh graduates.

Specifically invited were Business Education students, the professors and department heads of UNEP and other stakeholders to keep themselves abreast of the latest happening in the BPO industry. UNEP has also invited expert discussants to serve as speakers of the said confab which was held at the UNEP Mini theatre.

Ms. Lin Deres, Franchise Relationship Director of Goldilocks Bakeshop and Vice President for Membership, Philippine Franchise Association and Ms. Ana Maria S. Bongato, Talent Development Executive Director, Service Management Program of the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPAP) were invited to serve as speakers on the said activity.

Atty. Remelisa Alfelor-Moraleda, UNEP President said that the they have selected their speakers based on their proficiency and experiences in the realm of Business Outsourcing which is considered now as one of the fastest growing industries in the country.

“ We want our students to hear updates on BPO from adept persons who have personally and literally exposed themselves to this industry. This development is important to the UNEPians since this can serve as doorways for new opportunities for them. The flourishing BPO industry might be just waiting for them once they step out of UNEP. There are so many possibilities,” Moraleda said in an interview.

Deres discussed franchising and introduced the audience to successful models in terms of business while Bongato tackled topics concerning Service Management Program.
“We have envisioned UNEP to be the center of excellence in the field of business education. As we all know, business outsourcing is now taking the lead when it comes to various demands for lower labor cost but maintains an educated work force. To be globally competitive, we also need to equip our students with the current innovations, updates and everything that they need to know about BPO,” Moraleda added.

Also in the forefront of the said Business Outsourcing confab is Dean Elmer H. Lorin, UNEP Dean of the College of Business Education (CBED).

UNEP endeavors to maintain its lead as producer of global achievers. CBED in particular has made it clear in their mission: that is, to develop world class chief executives and business entrepreneurs by giving them relevant knowledge and information.

UNEP will continually inch its way towards the realization of its mission and vision. It will continually fit itself in the current trend, making sure that its graduates will be at par with other global competitors.(UNEP)
