DAET, CNORTE - Mayor Tito S. Sarion of this town is among a delegation of Philippine local government leaders who will visit in China for a five-day familiarization trip, the Philippine Center for Young Leaders (PCYL) said in a letter to the Daet mayor.


The Philippine delegation is headed by Governor Angel Amante of Agusan del Norte, and includes apart from Sarion, Binan mayor Len Alonte, Board Member Bobby Cristobal of Albay, three other councilors from the cities of Bacolod, Davao and Batangas, as well as representatives from the office of Senator Bam Aquino and Sec. Kiko Pangilinan.

The trip, part of a regular exchange program of the PCYL will leave for China on October 20 when they will visit Xiamen City in Fujian province to meet local officials and have a sharing on education, fishery and the local economy. They will also visit Xiamen University and met a local fishery group. On October 22, they will proceed to Changsha City in Hunan province where they will visit the local community cultural center, and share their respective local economic development experience, social welfare and poverty reduction projects to local officials and NGOs; as well as visit areas inhabited by minority ethnic groups. On October 24 to 25, the group will go to Guangzhou City in Guangdong province where they will meet scholars from the Institute of South East Asia studies in Jinan University, visit the China Southern Power Grid group as well as the Guangzhou Trade Fair Center.- fpj
